MAXXI ROME, ZAHA HADID

Last summer (2013) I visited Rome, I hit the historic centre and went to all of the classic tourist hotspots. Once I had tired the tourist track I decided to head to the outskirts of the city, to visit Zaha Hadid's MAXXI Centre. I was really impressed by the curving structure, and enjoyed the contrast of the modern building in comparison to everything else in Rome. I didn't pay entry but managed to take a few pictures in the entrance as well as the exterior.

THE ROYAL DANISH OPERA

When in Copenhagen this summer (2014), I decided to go on a boat tour of the city, as it supposedly the best way of seeing the city, and especially the architecture. My favourite buildings on the water were The Royal Danish Opera and The Black Diamond Library. The Royal Danish Opera design by Danish Architect Henning Larsen appears to be floating on the water's edge. The roof appears to be suspended above the building, mirroring the river below.

MUSEE D'ORSAY

On an A-Level Art trip to Paris in 2010, I had the opportunity to go to gallery Museé d'Orsay, once the former Gare d'Orsay. This gallery inspired my want to study Interior Architecture and Design at Nottingham Trent University, and has continued to be a big inspiration throughout my time at university. The way the original architecture has been respected, and how the gallery intervention appears to be slotted into the train station shell, celebrated the history of the building. I've attached a few pictures from my visit.
